Fabrication of Amino-Functionalized Polypyrrole Nanotubes as Effective Transducer to Volatile Acetic Acid |

Polypyrrole nanotubes and amino-functionalized polypyrrole nanotubes were fabricated using vapor deposition polymerization with template method. In particular, aminated polypyrrole nanotubes were readily synthesized by modifying the nanotube surface with open polyamine chains and applied to the transducer to acetic acid sensor. Amino-functionalized nanotubes demonstrated the more enhanced sensitivity than the pristine nanotubes due to the increased polymer/analyte partition coefficient and mass uptake of analyte. In addition, amino-functionalized nanotubes presented the reversible and reproducible response to acetic acid up to 40 % sensitivity. The aminated polypyrrole nanotubes would be the excellent transducer to volatile acetic acids as disposable sensors. |
