Highly transparent electrodes based on web-like network of silver nanowires (AgNW) bundles were fabricated using the dewetting phenomenon of liquid thin films. Using the meniscus-dragging deposition (MDD) technique, the AgNW suspension composed of AgNW, isopropyl alcohol and ethylene glycol (EG) was deposited onto octadecyltrichlorosilane treated substrates. It was possible to easily control dimensions of the AgNW bundles and the open space area of the AgNW-web by changing contact angles of substrate, the concentration of EG, and parameters of the MDD process. The principle of this phenomenon was analyzed by calculating the dewetting and drying times of the liquid thin film. Using this simple coating technique, the AgNW-web structured transparent thin films were deposited directly on rigid substrates and flexible, stretchable plastic substrates, which were superior to random structured electrodes in optical and electrical properties. |
