Design of hybrid supercapacitor with poly(pyrrole-pyrrole 3 carboxylic acid)-ruthenium nanorods array |

A array of poly(pyrrole-pyrrole 3 carboxylic acid)-ruthenium [P(Py-PyCOOH)-Ru] nanorods were designed using an anodized aluminum oxide (AAO) template for a application of hybrid supercapacitor. Gold layer as an electrode was deposited on one side of an AAO template by a thermal evaporation. Py-PyCOOH nanorods were electrochemically copolymerized into the AAO template. After the copolymerization, the AAO template was removed in an alkali solution. Ru+ ions were bonded to PPy-PPyCOOH nanorod through the interaction with carboxylic acid groups in the copolymer. The formation and morphology of the hybrid nanoelectrodes were monitored by SEM and the capacitive performances were investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) as well as the galvanostatic charge/discharge test. The highly enhanced capacity performance was observed in hybride nanoelectrode compared with PPy nanorod type and a conventional capacitor of PPy film type. |
