제목 | Synthesis and Properties of Polymeric Biocides based on EVA |
초록 | Contamination of polymeric materials by microorganisms provokes a serious problem in biomedical application. One possible way to overcome this problem is to develope polymeric materials which have antimicrobial activity. Polymeric biocides have invited considerable interests in recent years because of their long lasting biocidal activities. Polymeric biocides can significantly reduce losses associated with volatilization, photolytic decomposition, dissolution, and transport. Moreover, increased efficiency, selectivity, and handling safety are additional benefits which may be realized. Various EVOH samples were prepared by conventional saponification of ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers containing about 15∼30 wt% of ethylene with KOH/EtOH. An organic biocide, 4-hydroxy benzoic acid, 4-amino benzoic acid, salicylic acid and 5-chlorosalicylic acid were reacted with EVOH at 100℃ in 1,4-dioxane in the presence of titanium butoxide(TNBT). Antifungal activity of the synthesized polymers were studied by halo zone test and shake flask test against A. fumigatus and P. pinophilum. Themal and mechanical properties of the polymeric fungicide have been investigated. |
