제목 Color Tuning of Iridium Complexes and Highly Efficient Dexter Energy Transfer System Based on Host-Dopant Conjugates
초록 We have been working on developing phosphorescent materials in organic light emitting diode (OLED) for full color display. Various iridium complexes were designed by energy band-gap calculations via ab initio calcualtions and synthesized to give rise to various emission wavelengths as expected. First, fine color tuning was achieved through varying the position of both the methyl substituent and electron donating groups on HOMO and LUMO electron densities, respectively. Second, color tuning was made possible by altering the LUMO through the use of different ancillary ligands. Various blue phosphorescent materials have been developed through the judicious choice of ancillary ligands with lower pKa values.
In order to increase OLED efficiency, we have developed a new dendrimer system which consists of host covalently linked with dopant. This new system turns out to show better efficiency in dilute solution through the Dexter energy transfer comparing with the traditional host-guest blending system. Detailed experimental results on PL efficiency and life-time measurements, and the rationale for the increased efficiency will be presented.
