Electric conductivities of the sodium vanadate glasses |

The sodium vanadate glasses have been prepared and their structural and electrical properties have been studied. It has been found that xV2O5-(1-x)[Na2O-P2O5] (x: 0.3-0.7) glasses show predominantly electronic conductive characteristics. The compositional dependence of conductivity has been discussed on the basis of vanadium oxide concentration. Electric conductivities decreased with decreasing content of vanadium oxide, which is due to the increase of [V4+]/[V4+]+[V5+] ratio. Optical energy band gap increased with decreasing content of vanadium oxide. This behavior may be attributed to increase of average spacing between vanadium ions. This report may be useful to obtain an integrated battery in which electrolyte and cathode are based on the sodium vanadate glass system. Optical properties (optical energy band gap and transmittance) and Electrical properties (resistivity, carrier density, carrier mobility) were determined with UV-Vis spectrometer and Hall effect Measurement respectively. The structural analyses were confirmed using DTA, etc. |
