The use of triethanolamine ligand in the chemistry of atrane in which five-membered chelating rings are present has broadened its application across the periodic table. Generally, most studies in the formation of atrane have focused on the main group elements such as silicon, phosphorus, aluminum and tin. In the case of titanatranes, only few examples of atrane with modified triethanolateamine ligands were reported in literature, but they contained tetradentate ligand with different ring size as well as aliphatic-based trialkanolate ligand i.e., diethanolpropanolamine. Examples of titanatranes containing triethanolamine-based ligand with controlled steric hindrance have, to our knowledge, not been reported. Synthesis and characterization of new tetradentate ligands and their titanium complexes with controlled steric hindrance will be demonstrated. The X-ray structures of titanium complexes and their application for polymerization catalysis will be also shown. |
