While most of the extensive previous work on catalysts for polyolefins has been focused on the modification of η5 ligand system, much less attention has been directed toward the synthesis of electron-rich Group 4 metal complexes containing tridentate ligands. In this regard, the use of potentially tridentate electron-rich trianionic ligands RN(CH2CH2O)22-,RN(CH2CMe2O)22-,and RN(CH2CH2O)(CH2CMe2O)2- (R = Me, Ph) would be suitable for electronically and sterically modifying the active species of catalysts. The brief accounts of the syntheses, characterization, structures, and polymerization properties of titanium complexes which have one Cp* ligand and one RN(CH2CH2O)22-,RN(CH2CMe2O)22- , or RN(CH2CH2O)(CH2CMe2O)2- ligand (R = Me, Ph) will be presented. |
