Attachment and Proliferation of Schwann Cells in SIS Sponge with Various Contents |

Porcine small intestinal submucosa(SIS) has been widely used clinical applications, because they generate low immunogenicity and some growth factors which can stimulate cell activity. The schwann cells(SC) play a crucial role in endogenous repair of peripheral nerves and regeneration. In this study, we evaluated the effect of contents SIS sponge on attachment and proliferation of neuronal cells. SIS sponge were prepared by freeze-drying method from 1, 2 and 3 wt% SIS solution. SCs were harvested from the femurs of adult female Fischer rat. SIS sponges were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and were tested water absorption ability. The effect of SIS sponge on prolification of SCs were assessed in culturing using MTT assay, RT-PCR. These result suggest that 2 wt% SIS sponge affect to proliferation and adhesion of cells.
