제목 The effects of polymeric dispersants on the carbon fiber reinforced polyimide composites
초록 Polyimide (PI) and its composites attract extensive concern from tribological scientists world-wide because of their high mechanical strength, good thermal stability, high-stability under vacuum, good anti-radiation, and good solvent resistance. Carbon fiber (CF) reinforcement dominates in high-performance applications due to its outstanding mechanical properties combined with low weight. However, CF often exhibits poor adhesion to polymers, because CF has chemically inert and smooth surface, and also the oxygen-containing functional groups are very few. Therefore, we study the degree of dispersion of CF in PI composites using the surface modification of CF and dispersing agents: poly(itaconic acid-co-glycidyl methacrylate), poly(styrene-co-methyl methacrylate), and poly(styrene-co-allyl alcohol). The structures of the PI composites were characterized by the FT-IR. We measured the mechanical properties of the PI composites according to the types of dispersing agents.
