제목 Porous PLGA particles for pulmonary drug delivery
초록 Asthma is chronic pulmonary disease caused by a complex interaction of environmental and genetic factors, which typically induces airway constriction. Current treatment methods include prevention medications such as an inhaled corticosteroid. But, a long-term use as well as frequent dosage of corticosteroids can generate many side effects to patient. Therefore, we hypothesized that porous PLGA particles could be effective for pulmonary drug delivery, as this approach can achieve sustained delivery of corticosteroids and reduce the number of dosage. Porous PLGA particles were prepared by a double emulsion method and budesonide, a frequently used corticosteroid for asthma treatment, was loaded into the particles. The porous PLGA particles exhibited the sustained release of budesonide in vivo, and the uptake effieciency of porous PLGA particles into the lung of animal models was also higher than that of non-porous particles.
