제목 Therapeutic effect of budesonide-loaded porous polymer particles in a murine asthma model
초록 Asthma is a chronic lung disease that causes inflammation and narrows the airways. Current treatment methods for asthma include prevention medications such as budesonide that is a glucocorticoid steroid. However, a long-term use as well as frequent dosages of steroids can generate many side effects to patients. For this reason, we hypothesized that budesonide-loaded porous polymer particles could be useful for the treatment of asthma, which may reduce the dosage of steroids and deposition loss. Budesonide-loaded porous PLGA particles were prepared by a double emulsion method using ammonium bicarbonate as a porogen. Various characteristics of porous particles were evaluated including the morphology, size, in vitro drug-release properties, and in vivo lung-uptake efficiency. Therapeutic effect of budesonide-loaded PLGA particles was also tested in a murine asthma model.
