Dual-Site Diphosphinoamine Ligand for Selective Chromium-Catalyzed Oligomerization of Ethylene |

Linear alpha-olefins (LAOs) are very versatile intermediates for the production of copolymers, plasticizer alcohols, detergents and synthetic lubricants. Obviously, each segment has its own market with distinctively different market size, growth and geographical dependence. At present, the market for LAOs in the comonomer range, specifically 1-hexene and 1-octene, is growing at an over-proportional 6 % per annum while other segments are constant or stagnating even shrinking. The development of new catalyst systems for the selective production of 1-hexene and 1-octene is therefore highly desirable due to the fact that conventional ethylene oligomerization lead to Shultz-Flory distribution of products. In this work, we synthesized novel dinuclear chromium diphosphinoamine complex and investigated ethylene oligomerization with this catalyst. |
