Biological fouling beneath marine machinery causes severe problems such as loss of energetic efficiency and performance. For decades, intensive researches have been performed to prevent adsorption of marine organisms. Polyethylene glycol (PEG) has been known as a typical good antifouling agent, but pure PEG is too weak to be utilized on actual materials. In this study, we make PEG-PDMS complex films to overcome this weakness of mechanical properties. We first prepared porous PEG films by a Directional Melting Crystallization (DMC) method and subsequently we infiltrated PDMS into the porous PEG. The structure of film was confirmed by a scanning electron microscope(SEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDS). Moreover, PEG-PDMS composites indicate improved mechanical strength in comparison to pure PEG film. |
