For polymeric materials, engineering wetting properties of surfaces has become attractive due to their critical roles in various researches such as oil-water separation and anti-fouling. There are lots of practical applications of oil-water separation such as purifying crude oil, oily wastewater, and oil spill pollution. One of the most common approaches of oil-water separation is developing novel manufacturing techniques of membranes. In this study, we produced PVDF membranes of aligned microchannel by directional melt crystallization technique. DMC is the technique which can produce porous walled structure and also can control size of pore and thickness of membrane. This could make it possible to overcome the endemic limitation of oil-water separation membranes having low permeate flux. Furthermore, DMC technique might enhance hydrophilicity or hydrophobicity of membranes. This novel method is likely to be used in various fields including the fields of oil-water separation. |
