A tungsten trioxide (WO3) has lower band gap energy than titanium dioxide (TiO2) and a higher absorption of visible light than TiO2. In this work, we analyzed WO3 inverse opal structures generated by positive/negative charged polystyrenes (PS) colloidal particles. We first made PS templates with positive/negative charged PS, respectively. Then, we fabricated WO3 inverse opal structure using ammonium metatungstate (AMT) and tungsten peroxy acid (TPA) as precursors. We observed different morphology for each WO3 inverse opal structure depending on the charge of PS particles and WO3 precursors. WO3 inverse opal films were characterized using X-ray diffraction and their morphologies were studied by scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy. We speculated different nucleation mechanisms based on zeta potential values of PS particles and WO3 precursors. |
