Generally, ethylene is oligomerized into α-olefins with one catalyst and copolymerized with the obtained oligomers with the other catalyst. However, poor catalyst compatibility usually limited their applications. Multidentate nickel(II) complexes based on α-diimine ligands have attracted great attention since show good catalytic activities towards ethylene polymerization/oligomerization. We report the synthesis of novel multidentate hybrid nickel(II) complexes bearing α-diimine ligands in one-pot step for oligomerization and polymerization. The different catalytic centers in hybrid Ni(II) complexes was activated with various cocatalyst in toluene, and showed high activity (106 g/(mol Ni.bar.h)) for ethylene oligomerization/polymerization. The effects of reaction conditions on the catalytic activity, structure and properties of branched polyethylene from in situ copolymerization of ethylene were investigated. |
