Fluorescent π-conjugated polymers have received great attention because of their potential applications in light emitting diodes, bioelectronics, and optical transduction under external stimuli. Conjugated polymers offer advantages for optical sensors over low molecular weight chemosensors, for example, signal amplification and easy fabrication into device. We have synthesized conjugated poly(2-(2'-hydroxyphenyl)benzoxazole) via Suzuki coupling with following structure. The polymer exhibited excited state intramolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) in chloroform solution, which showed noticeable emission maximum shift from 418 nm to 518 nm excited at 330 nm. We investigated the optical sensing properties of the polymer in terms of changes in ESIPT. Ion-dependent emission changes will be discussed in this presentation.
