Multi-layered hydrogels has been studied for various applications including actuators and sensors. In this study, we designed a tri-layer hydrogel with a different expansion ratio. Each layer of tri-layer hydrogel was composed of acrylamide (AAm) and N,N’-methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) at different concentrations and induced self-folding due to the difference in the expansion ratio of each layer. The radius of curvature of the multi-layered hydrogel was adjusted by the elastic modulus and expansion ratio of each layer. The physical properties of each layer were controlled by the composition ratio. In order to compare durability, a bi-layer hydrogel with the same radius of curvature as tri-layer hydrogel was manufactured. This study examines the durability of multi-layered hydrogel and provides the stress and buffering effect on each layer. |
