Flame retardancy of poly(lactic acid) containing flame retardant |

The effects of flame retardants that synthesized in this study on the flame retardancy of PLA was investigated. PLA was prepared via ring opening metathesis polymerization of L-lactide and flame retardants were synthesized via the condensation polymerization of phenylphosphonic dichloride(PPDC) with 1,4-butanediol. The chemical structure of the flame retardant was characterized with a proton nuclear magnetic resonance(¹H NMR) and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR). Then, flame retardant PLA composite was prepared. The flame retarding ability of flame retardant PLA composite was investigated by the limiting oxygen index(LOI) and the thermogravimetric analysis(TGA).
