Graphene oxide (GO) has oxygen-carrying functionalities. Therefore, it is easy to be dispersed in water and its functional groups can be further modified. Because GO is able to carry functional groups, various chemical species can be introduced. Furthermore, it would be possible to be used as a solid support. For this reason, we have synthesized IBX functionalized graphene oxide for selective oxidation of the hydroxyl group of organic compound to the corresponding carboxylic acid. Synthesized GO-IBX amide is water soluble, and proved to be a powerful oxidation reagent for organic reaction in water medium. |
