Preparation of Ladder-like Poly(phenyl-co-methacryl) silsesquioxane nanocomposite with ZnO QD |

Ladder-like polysilsesqioxane (LPSQ) composite with ZnO was prepared by blending with MMA substituted LPSQ and PMMA coated ZnO nanoparticle (NP). Although polymer/ZnO composites were so far prepared by conventional hydrocarbon polymer such as PMMA, this LPSQ/ZnO composite could be expected high thermal and mechanical stabilities originated from the rigid ladder structured siloxane backbone of LPSQ. For this, LPSQ with MMA and Phenyl groups was first synthesized by our modified sol-gel reaction and PMMA coated ZnO NP was prepared by conventional radical polymerization in the presence of 3-(trimethoxysilyl)propylmethacrylate (TPM). These two materials were then mixed, which showed excellent compatibility between MMA groups in LPSQ and PMMA in ZnO NP to give well-dispersed LPSQ/ZnO nanocomposites. Obtained hybrid film was then characterized by their photo and electro-optical properties. |
