Nafion® for proton exchange membrane fuel cell(PEMFC) is widely used because of theirs properties. However, there are still many problems, such as CO tolerance, high BOP, water management, and so on, due to its low operation temperature, around 80℃, of fuel cell. To solve these problems, PEMFC that can be operated at temperature above 150℃ have been researched. In this work, in order to improve the performance of the polymer electrolyte membrane for high temperature operating proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC), synthesized inorganic material were introduced in Poly 2,2’-m-(phenylene)-5,5’-bibenzimidazole (PBI). The proton conductivity result shows that Al-Si-PBI film has enhanced value (0.25S/cm) compared to that of pure PBI film (0.05S/cm), because the hybrid film holds much more phosphoric acid due to the Al-Si. Furthermore, Al-Si-PBI has improved current density (0.32 A/cm2 at 0.6V) and power density (0.37 W/cm2) compared to those of PBI (0.26 A/cm2, 0.26 W/cm2). |
