In this study, aminopropyl terminated poly(dimethyllsiloxanes-g-ethylene oxide) (PDMS-g-PEG) was designed and synthesized to enhance the hydrophilicity of silicone-modified urethanes. First, hydrophilic cyclosiloxane (PEG-D4) was synthesized by hydrosilylation of H-functional cyclosiloxane (H-D4) with allyl terminated poly(ethylene glycol) in the presence of a platinum catalyst. Second, aminopropyl terminated PDMS-g-PEG was synthesized by ring opening polymerization of the PEG-D4, Dimethylcyclosiloxane (DMCS), and 1,3-bis(3-aminopropyl)-tetramethyldisiloxane (APTMDS) under basic condition. Molecular weight and PEG content were controlled by changing the mole ratio of PEG-D4 : DMCS : APTMDS. In this presentation, we will show the results on the synthetic conditions and analytical data for the aminopropyl-terminated PDMS-g-PEG. |
