In order to determine the effect of lignin in cellulose separator on the electrochemical performance of lithium-ion batteries, the battery cell with cellulose nanofiber containing partial lignin separator has been evaluated depending on lignin content. Also, the battery cell with the TEMPO cellulose separator was used as the cellulose only separator to evaluate effect of lignin on battery cell performance peracetic acid treatment was carried out to adjust lignin content of unbleached kraft pulp. In result, the LCNF separator showed better thermal stability and mechanical properties than the TEMPO-mediate oxidized cellulose separator and it meant that the heat resistance and rigidity of lignin in LCNF can enhance the thermal stability and mechanical properties such as tensile and punching strength, respectively. However the battery cell performance with LCNF separator was reduced due to decrease in porosity of separator. |
