In this study, we report on the formation of fluorescent micropatterns on the surface of a polymer by masked ion irradiation. Various polymers were irradiated with accelerated ions in the presence of a pattern mask. The irradiated polymers were characterized by FT-IR, UV-VIS, and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The UV-VIS absorptions and PL emissions of the irradiated films were dependant on the fluence. The fluorescence microscopic observation revealed that the well-defined fluorescent patterns were generated on the surface of the polymer films, and the emission color was changed from blue to white with an increasing fluence. |
