In this study, we describe a new methodology to generate fluorescence patterns in polymer films. For this, various polymers were irradiated with accelerated ions in the presence of a pattern mask. The irradiated polymers were characterized by FT-IR, UV-VIS, and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The UV-VIS absorption and PL emission of the irradiated films were dependant on the fluence. The fluorescence microscopic observation revealed that well-defined 40 μm fluorescence patterns were generated on the surface of the polymer films, and their emission color was changed from blue to white with an increasing fluence. |
