Co-plasticization of PVB-based solid polymer electrolyte for stable electrochromic |

This study presents a simple one-pot synthesis process through co-plasticization of polymer electrolyte through the use of 2 different plasticizers to obtain the transparent solid electrolyte for stable electrochromic device. As the results, the synthesized electrolyte shows a high cyclability and a thermal stability due to high mechanical strength of polymer network and plasticizing materials. Interestingly, the synthesized electrolyte-coated FTO showed 97% transmittance compared to bare FTO. In order to optimize the ionic conductivity of the developed electrolyte, PVB/LiBr/PEG400/TGM/LiBr components ratio was carefully investigated in this work through the use of electrical impedance spectroscopy. Furthermore, the developed electrolyte was applied as an efficient electrolyte for smart window device. It was found that difference between colored and bleached states of the device at 550 nm is more than 50% difference. The developed material was successfully applied in 25x25 mm2 device with further scaling up to 50x50 mm2 without any dramatic difference in cells performance between cells. |
