Solvothermal synthesis of Bi2Te3 nanoparticles for investigation of interface effect on thermoelectric property. |

Thermoelectric materials have consistently attracted due to its sustainable feature as one of green energy candidates in recent years. Many studies have focused on improvement of thermoelectric property by optimizing its figure of merit (ZT = S2σ/k). In the field of thermoelectric polymer composites, both material and structural effects are very critical to get high ZT value but only few studies on interface effect between polymer matrix and filler were conducted. In this study, Bi2Te3 nanoparticles with two surface types (smooth and rough, respectively) were synthesized by solvothermal methods. Then scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction patterns (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) characterizations were performed to confirm roughness, particle size, crystal structure and binding energy of Bi2Te3 nanoparticles. Our ongoing work is investigation of thermoelectric polymer nanocomposites consisting of PEDOT:PSS and different roughness Bi2Te3 fillers to figure out the interface effect between matrix and filler on thermoelectric property. |
