Recently, silole containing polymers have been researched to show potential characteristics as materials for polymer solar cells due to broad absorption spectrum and good hole transport property. Most of the previous studies on silole derivatives mainly focus on the effect of the replacement of a carbon atom by a silicon atom, which affects the intermolecular interactions however we focus on the difference of open circuit voltage (Voc) according to different side chains. In this study, two silole containing polymers, poly{[4,4’-bis(2-ethylhexyl)dithieno(3,2-b;2’,3’d)silole]-2,6-diyl-alt-(2,1,3-benzothidiazole)-4,7-diyl} (PSDTBT, P1) and poly{[4,4‘-bis(2-hexyl)dithieno(3,2-b;2’,3’d)silole]-2,6-diyl-alt-(2,1,3-benzothidiazole)-4,7-diyl} (PSDTBT, P2) are prepared for investigating side chain effects on Voc and absorption spectra. Comparison of P1 and P2 provides how the difference side chain affects interchain ordering and photovoltaic performance. |
