We present experimental results quantifying the dewetting behavior and glass transition behavior of melt polymer on polymer brushed substrates. The “graft-to” method was used to graft functional homopolymers onto the surface of the standard Si substrates. The glass transition behavior of polymer films on polymer brushed substrates, which are the same chemical identity with overlying polymers, was studied as a function of film thickness. The thickness dependence of Tg was observed to be more pronounced for the films on the shorter brushes with the high grafting density. In addition, using polymer brushed substrates, the microdomain orientation in thin films of lamella-forming polystyrene-block-poly (methyl methacrylate) (PS-b-PMMA) copolymers was studied during solvent annealing process. |
