Electrospinning and mechanical characterization of hyaluronic acid nanofibers |
초록 |
Electrospinning of a natural biopolymer, hyaluronic acid (HA), and the mass concentration-mechanical property relationship of the resulting nanofiber membranes have been investigated. It has been recognized that although HA can be easily dissolved in water the HA/water solution was unable to electrospin into ultra fine fibers. A different organic solvent, trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), is proven suitable for HA, and the resulting solution with a mass concentration in between 0.5 and 1.5% can be successfully electrospun into nanofibers of a diameter in a range from 200 to 600 nm. The decrease in surface tension could promote fiber formation. Thus, an introduction of TFA that could decrease the surface tension distinctively, without significant change or increase in viscosity of the solution, could bypass the use of blowing-assisted electrospinning. The physical properties of HA nano mat were characterized by SEM, X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and tensile strength. |
