Porous curcumin-loaded polycacprolactone nanofibers for wound healing |

The aim of this study was to develop untrafine biomedicated nanofiber electrospun mats for wound healing. Nanofibers of of polycaprolactone (PCL) and (PCL)/polyethyleneglycone (PEG) blend, loaded curcumin (Cur) were generated by an electrospinning. Blending PEG resulted in increasing in diameter of nanofibers and forming the pores on the nanofiber surface after immersion. Biological characteristics of PCL/PEG blend nanofibers containing Cur were examined. Cur-loaded PCL/PEG blend nanofibers show the highest efficiency for Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) inhibition. The inclusion of Cur in both the PCL and the PCL/PEG blended nanofibers inhibite excessive production of Nitric oxide (NO) and promote the proliferation of cells. The in vivo wound healing showed that the treatment of Cur-loaded PCL/PEG blended nanofibers significantly increased the rate of wound closure (85 %) on day 5 and almost closure on day 10. Blending PEG in the PCL nanofibers containing Cur exhibited a useful and convenient method for ES in order to wound healing application. |
