A new class of products produced from sing-site catalyst technology, metallocene catalyzed linear low density polyethylene (m-LLDPE) with the controlled amount of long chain branch has varieties in chemical composition and more complicated microscopic molecular structures. One of key issues in this area developing m-LLDPE with appropriate properties for end-user applications is understandings of the molecular structure, where not only the molecular weight distribution but also the comonomer distribution in polymer chain would be interesting since these all can affect polymer properties. The effect of molecular architecture on the physical properties of new m-LLDPE was investigated. New m-LLDPE exhibited highly homogeneous intermolecular and intramolecular composition distribution combined with long-chain branching, which offered better heat sealability, optical properties and outstanding processability. |
