Poly (vinyl phosphonic acid-co-methacrylic acid) was synthesized through suspension polymerization with benzoil peroxide as an initiator and N, N’-methylene-bis-acrylamide as a crosslinking agent. The structures of poly (vinyl phosphonic acid-co-methacrylic acid) were confirmed by FT-IR (Fourier transform infrared) spectroscopy. The peaks of poly (vinyl phosphonic acid-co-methacrylic acid) were assigned 927 cm-1and 1546 cm-1 to the P-OH group of phosphonic acid and N-H bending peak of N, N’-methylene-bis-acrylamide, respectively. Glass transitions were proportion to the contents of N,N' methylene-bis-acrylamide. The water uptakes were obtained range from 50~200%, and the ion exchange capacity was obtained 0.8 meq/g at an optimum condition. |
