제목 Enhancement of the Meltdown Temperature of a Lithium Ion Battery Separator via a Nanocomposite Coating
초록 Polyethylene (PE) has applied for lithium ion battery separator (LIBS) because of its various merits. Importantly, when a lithium-ion battery is overcharged, shutdown of PE separator takes place. But the cell temperature often continues to increase after shutdown. The shutdown temperature of a PE separator is close to its meltdown temperature. So, lithium battery can be seriously damaged after shutdown. In this research, to maintain robust mechanical properties after shutdown, we design the separator that have a porous PE layer coated with another porous polymer like a polyarylate (PAR) that have higher thermal stability. Phase inversion process is used for preparing a porous coating layer. In this process, a homogeneous polymer solution consisting of a polymer and an adequate solvent with an additive is cast on PE separator.
