제목 Synthesis and Characterization of a Photocrosslinkable Polystyrene Methylene Cinnamate Fiber via Electrospinning
초록 Polystyrene was chloromethylated by a reaction with chloromethyl methyl ether in the presence of zinc chloride as a starting material. Subsequent modification of the chloromethylated polystyrene (CMPS) with cinnamic acid was successfully performed with tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) as catalyst, and it produced a photosensitive polystyrene with a cinnamoyl side chain. The chemical structure of polystyrene methylene cinnamate (PSMC) was confirmed by 1H NMR and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The photosensitivity of the PSMC was investigated with ultraviolet spectroscopic methods. Electrospinning and photocrosslinking were combined in this study to prepare solvent-resistant fibers of PSMC. Electrospun PSMC showed excellent solubility in many organic solvents. UV irradiation of the electrospun mat led to photodimerization to resist dissolving in organic solvents. The solvent insolubility was confirmed by the stable morphology of PSMC fibers during solvent immersion.
