We investigated the glass transition temperature(Tg) behavior of PUDs obtained from different soft and hard segment structures. PUDs were designed based on different type of soft-segment, viz. polytetramethylene ether glycol(PTMG), poly(propylene glycol)(PPG), poly(tetramethylene adipate) glycol(PTAd), poly(2,4-diethyl-1,5-pentamethylene adipate) glycol (PDPAd), and hard-segment, viz. 1,4-butandiol(1.4-BD), and 1,3-butandiol(1,3-BD). UTM and DMTA were used to investigate the mechanical properties and the phase behavior. The single Tg increased with the decrease of polyol molecular weight(Mw) and with branched polyol in soft-segment and with chain extender of irregular structure in hard-segment, which led to the increased phase mixing of soft and hard segments. |
