Sulfonated poly (arylene ether sulfone) (C-SPAES) is prepared by situ casting and heating of thiol-terminated SPAES (SH-SPAES) solution. Cross-linking agents such as acrylo-polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (A-POSS) with different crosslink density were introduced through the thiol-ene-click reaction. SH-SPAES was prepared by stepwise substitution reaction of phenoxide-terminated SPAES and end capping reagent. The prepared C-SPAES was prepared in the form of membrane, and its chemical and physical stability and mechanical strength were greatly improved by the cross-linking structure compared to the linear SPAES membrane. In addition, ion exchange properties higher than that of Nafion-212 were confirmed. The C-SPAES membrane, which contains the optimized cross-linker content under various operating conditions of the cation exchange membrane fuel cell, was found to have intermediate temperatures and excellent cell performance when applied to membrane electrode assemblies. |
