3D scaffolds based on FGNs beneficial to myogenesis |

Over the last decade, there have been tremendous efforts to develop tissue engineering scaffolds for promoting cellular behaviors, including adhesion, proliferation and differentiation. Among them, particular attention has been paid to 3D scaffolds because cellular behaviors are directly dependent on the dimensional features of scaffolds. On the other hand, functional graphene nanomaterials (FGNs) have recently emerged as potential candidates due to their good biocompatibility and outstanding bioactivity. Herein, we prepared two types of FGN-functionalized 3D scaffolds [FGN-PU foams (GO-PFs) and FGN-gelatin hydrogels (GO-GHs)] and explored their potentials for myogenic differentiation thru cultivating skeletal myoblasts within both scaffolds. Our results showed that GO-PFs and GO-GHs have suitable 3D structures and could enhance myoblast growth and differentiation. Therefore, it is suggested that both FGN-based scaffolds can be effectively employed for myogenesis. |
