This study was investigated the possibility of preparation of activated carbon from grape-seed. Activated carbon was prepared from grape-seed by chemical activation with ZnCl2. The preparation process was carried out by roasting, carbonization, chemical activation, washing and dry. The most important parameter in chemical activation of grape-seed char with both of the chemical agents was found to be impregnation ratio. The chemical ratio of ZnCl2 was in the range of 100∼300wt%. The specific surface areas of activated grape-seed char were measured as about 48.4∼122.3m2/g with 100∼300wt% chemical ratio of ZnCl2. Activated carbon of high specific surface area obtained by ZnCl2 activation. Removal of phenol in solution by activated carbon was carried out and structural change of pore surface was observed by SEM at 500 magnification. |
