제목 Poly(ethyleneimine)-Gold Nanoparticles as Computed Tomography Contrast Enhancing Agents
초록 This study is related to polymer-gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) which are nontoxic and capable of remaining in the bloodstream for a long time. We developed the methods for synthesis of poly(ethyleneimine) (PEI)-AuNPs as computed tomography CT contrast enhancing agents. Branched PEI-capped AuNPs are prepared in aqueous polymer solution, which is based on the roles of PEI as a reductant and a stabilizer. The characteristics of PEI-AuNPs were studied by X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and particle size analysis. The size of PEI-AuNPs had a significant dependence upon PEI contents with an average diameter of 40-100 nm. The PEI-AuNPs exhibited a well-dispersed property in water owing to exceptional stability against agglomeration with excellent hydrophilicity and biocompatiblity. The results obtained in this study confirmed the feasibility of the PEI-AuNPs as a biomaterial for CT contrast enhancing agent.
