제목 Explosive Sensors Based on Silicon Nanoparticles
초록 Silicon nanoparticles have been obtained from the sonication of luminescent porous silicon and used to detect explosives. The detection method involves the measurement of quenching of photoluminescence of silicon nanoparticles by the analyte. Photoluminescence quenching of silicon nanoparticles in toluene solutions with nitrobenzene, DNT, TNT, and picric acid were measured and a linear Stern-Volmer relationship was observed. The mechanism of quenching is attributed to electron transfer from the conduction band of copolymers to the LUMO of the analyte. Synthesis and characterization of alkyl-capped nanocrystalline silicon (R-n-Si) have been achieved. Silicon nanocrystals have been synthesized by the reaction of silicontetra chloride with magnesiumsilicide. Surface of silicon nanocrystal has been terminated with various alkyl groups (R=methyl, n-butyl, etc.). Silicon nanocrystals have been characterized by FTIR, UV-vis absorption, and photoluminescence spectroscopy. A strong UV-blue photoluminescence between 350nm and 450nm is observed. A possible application as sensors will be presented.
