제목 | Hard Coatings on Polycarbonate Plate by Sol-Gel Reactions of (3-glycidoxypropyl)trimethoxysilane |
초록 | Polycarbonate have superior toughness, optical clarity, and lower density than inorganic glass, and thus seem to be ideal glazing materials for automobiles. However, because of the wear resistance, polycarbonate windows often quickly lose transparency during daily use and maintenance. In order to control the wear, abrasion-resistant coatings have been developed over the past few years by silicon modification. Silicon modification can be characterized by the formation of hard coatings on a polymer substrate through hydrolysis and condensation (sol-gel reactions) of alkoxysilanes. In this research, (3-glycidoxypropyl)trimethoxysilane (GPTMS), diethylenetriamine (DETA), and 3-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (APS) were used to prepare the coatings by sol-gel process. The optimum conditions and the formulation to get the excellent physical properties were determined. The mole ratio of alkoxysilane compounds, selection of the solvent, the aging time, and the amount of acid catalyst.
