Nowadays, changing the properties of crystalline materials with adding polymers during crystallization has been investigated as an important strategy in many fields. Here, we used the polymers usually regarded as safe to tailor the properties of polyphenols by using drowning-out crystallization. We injected the anti-solvent to a solution of polymer and quercetin to perform the polymer-directed crystallization. Through this methods, we can control the morphology of quercetin crystal very simply. Also there are a lot of benefits that can be achievable such as high efficiency, controlling drug release rate and reduced processing costs. It showed that the morphology of quercetin crystals has been changed in cases of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose (HPMC), polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) and polyethyleneimine (PEI) by SEM. DSC showed the distinction between the cases with polymer and without polymer. This method has an effect on changing the properties of queretin. |
