Dynamics and optimal design of intermittent slot coating |
초록 |
Slot coating, in its precision mode, is regarded as one of the indispensable processes in IT industries manufacturing flat panel displays, the secondary batteries, etc. In this study, flow dynamics of Newtonian fluids and non–Newtonian (shear thinning) fluids in intermittent or patch slot coating has been theoretically investigated. Actually, the flow control in intermittent coating is more difficult than in continuous case because of its time-dependent characteristics. Numerical simulations have been performed using popular commercial computational fluid dynamics packages (Fluent and Flow-3D). It has been concluded that we can establish the optimal process conditions by controlling fluid characteristics and die design for uniform coating products with high quality and productivity in this process. |
