The interfacial interactions between dielectric surface and semiconductor molecules critically influence the molecular ordering and microstructure of organic semiconductor films, so understanding the surface properties of dielectric is critical to improve the device performance in organic field-effect transistors (OFETs). Here, we present a relationship between the crystalline structures of pentacene film and the organic interlayer which are adopted for improving the interface properties onto the inorganic dielectrics. Firstly, we present studies on the effect of self-assembled monolayer (SAM) on pentacene film structures and the device performances. Secondly, we suggest new polymeric interlayer (PS-brush) with high stability, flat surface roughness, and process simplicity. In results, our study provides a significant step toward optimizing the nanostructures of organic semiconductors, which are directly linked to device performance enhancement, by engineering the interfaces in OFETs. |
