For the preparation of acrylonitrile–butadiene rubber (NBR) nanocomposites, we have synthesized a various organic modifiers by the reaction of allyl bromide and alklyamine (ethyl, dodecyl, octadecyl, triallyl, and dimethylallyl) using tetrahydrofuran as a solvent. Organically modified montmorillonites (OMMTs) could be obtained by ion exchange reaction in aqueous media. NBR/OMMT nanocomposites were prepared using melt-compounding method followed by hot-press vulcanization. Tensile strengths of NBR/OMMT nanocomposites were dramatically changed by the structures of organic modifies. We expecte that the enhancement of mechanical and barrier properties of NBR nanocomposites from ATAA-MMT (triallylamine) and ADMA-MMT (dimethylallylamine), since they have more possible sites for co-vulcanization. The relation between cross-linking density and the mechanical and barrier properties of NBR/OMMT nanocomposites will be further discussed . |
