제목 Photocatalytic Degradation of Phenol Using Visible Light Responsive CuO-Rutile TiO2 Hollow Nano Particles
초록 Titanium dioxide (TiO2), a promising photocatalyst, has been explored past decades due to its advantages, such as low toxicity, and high oxidizing performance. However, it exists in several forms of crystalline phases. Anatase phase is one of them, which is the photoactive phase due to its good charge separation characteristics. However, the large bandgap (3.2 eV) of anatase hinders reaction activity under solar light irradiation. To enhance the photocatalytic activity under solar light conditions, rutile phase which has a relatively narrower bandgap energy (3.0 eV) can be a considered. In this study, rutile phase hollow TiO2 photocatalysts were synthesized by using sol-gel method and ion-exchange method. Especially, catalysts were designed as the hollow structure. We also conducted phenol photodegradation experiments under visible light conditions (λ ≥ 400 nm), resulting that as-prepared photocatalysts showed superior efficiency than an anatase counterpart.
