In recent years, developing and applying efficient and cost-effective technologies for treatment of waters contaminated with synthetic organic chemicals (SOCs) have become important. Many synthetic organic chemicals (SOCs) present in drinking water are of major concern because of their potential mutagenicity, carcinogenicity, and/or toxicity. The objectives of this study are to investigate the adsorption characteristics of MSM, a kind of herbicide, on activated carbon and to obtain the reliable information to be applied in analyzing and simulating the adsorption capacity of granular activated carbon (GAC) used in the synthetic organic carbon (SOCs) treatment system.
